The Food Circus family has always been committed
to giving back to the communities in which we serve.
In addition to continually assisting neighborhood
schools, religious organizations and charities, we
are proud to partner with the following organizations:
180 - Turning Lives Around
180, Turning Lives Around, is a private,
non-profit organization dedicated to ending domestic violence and sexual assault in our community. At 180, 300,000 indivuduals and their families have been served for 30 years. Their caring staff provide immediate and long term support in assisting clients with the trauma they have experienced, while supporting them in obtaining services and making decisions that will turn their lives around. Food Circus is proud to partner with 180, Turning Lives Around. Please visit their website at www.180nj.org for more information.
American Cancer Society
Food Circus Super Markets has proudly partnered with
the American Cancer Society in its fight against cancer.
We have donated our resources in order to help the
organization accomplish its mission. This community-
based voluntary health organization is dedicated to
eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing
cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from
cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and
service.
American Red Cross of Monmouth
and Ocean Counties
Food Circus financially assists the American Red Cross
which allows them to respond to more than 67,000 disasters,
including house or apartment fires (the majority of
disaster responses), hurricanes, floods, earthquakes,
tornadoes, hazardous materials spills, transportation
accidents, explosions, and other natural and man-made
disasters.
Association of Retarded Citizens
Food Circus is a proud sponsor of hiring those with
special needs and developmental disabilities. We have
partnered with the Association for Retarded Citizens
in all of our stores to give opportunity to those
excluded from other work venues. In 2003 Food Circus
received the ARC's prestigious Employer of the Year
Award.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of
Monmouth and Ocean Counties
As a service oriented company, we understand how important
it is to give back to the community and especially
to those who are really deserving; children. Food
Circus team members help to raise money for the Big
Brothers Big Sisters of Monmouth County by participating
in the Annual Bowl for Kids’ Sake. We are proud
that Food Circus Super Markets was the recipient of
the Corporate Team Award for being the highest fund
raising company in 2003.
Boys and Girls Club of Monmouth
County
In every community, boys and girls are left to find
their own recreation and companionship in the streets.
An increasing number of children are at home with
no adult care or supervision. Young people need to
know that someone cares about them. Boys & Girls
Clubs offer that and more. That is why Food Circus
Super Markets proudly supports the Boys and Girls
club of Monmouth and Ocean counties.
Disaster Relief
We at Food Circus were stunned and saddened after
the events of the World Trade Center on September
11, 2001. In an effort to support and alleviate the
suffering of the families of the victims and others
that were impacted by the devastating events of that
day, Food Circus mobilized its available resources
to deal with the crisis. Our team members displayed
incredible consideration by volunteering their time
and efforts to aid those in need, and the company
donated thousands of dollars in merchandise toward
disaster relief services.
Food Bank.
Food Circus is proud to work with The FoodBank of
Monmouth and Ocean Counties by donating nutritious
food products and sponsor special activities such
as Check Out Hunger in our stores. Check Out Hunger
encourages the public to donate money to The FoodBank
so that it may purchase food for those in need throughout
our communities. In 2003 alone, we were able to donate
nearly $50,000 in product and food to help the needy.
March of Dimes
The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the
health of babies by preventing birth defects and infant
mortality. They carry out this mission through research,
community services, education and advocacy to save
babies' lives. Food Circus is proud to partner with
the organization by donating its resources in order
to help facilitate in work being done by the March
of Dimes.
Middletown Public Library
Through Food Circus Super Markets, the Azzolina and
Scaduto families have donated $100,000 to the Middletown
Public Library building funds. This donation will
help revitalize the and expand the new building.
Operation Food Circus
With the help of our valued customers and our team
members, Food Circus sponsored a supply drive for
our troops in the Middle East. Many were encouraged
to supply food items and miscellaneous personal items
in support of our men and women fighting to maintain
our freedom. Fifty five boxes of supplies were sent
in the Summer of 2004.
